ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Komal Shashank. I am a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from Hyderabad, India. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Interactive Technology degree in Software Development (Programming) at The Guildhall at SMU. I graduate in May 2017.
Video Games have always intrigued me. Even before I knew what they were, in the mid 1990's, gameplay videos of games such as Super Contra, Street Fighter and Megaman were broadcast everyday on TV and I never missed a single day of watching them. To me, they were a special type of cartoons with funny characters moving around.
I first started playing games at the age of five with my first game Super Mario Bros. and have been playing games ever since. However, my true passion for playing and developing games did not materialize until I finished high school. I had a lot of free time playing games before I went off to college and this sparked an interest in me on how to make games and I really wanted to learn more about developing video games.
A little bit of research told me that The Guildhall at SMU was offering one of the best programs in video game development. After spending the next five years in college researching and learning more about the video game industry and honing the required skills, I joined the Software Development track at The Guildhall since I loved programming and enjoyed solving problems.
All areas of game programming specialization interest me, but my top three areas of specialization in order of preference are, Physics, Graphics and AI Programming. I have also dabbled in other areas such as Gameplay, Networking, UI and Tools Programming during my time at The Guildhall and I am fairly good at solving any given problem pertaining to these areas as well.
